Rules

Welcome to Medieval Realm's rule page!

Each Gamemode has its appropriate rules and therefore they need to be kept separated.
Click on the tabs above to see the different sections of the rules and their punishments.

You saw someone abusing/breaking the rules? Don't hesitate to report them!

General & Chat Rules:
(Rules are still a WIP there may be changes)

We differentiate between offenses and crimes, the former will normally result in muting the punished or revoking permissions, the latter will always result in a ban.
The duration of the punishment can vary, usually between 24h and 30 days.
The general rules apply to all gamemodes.

We are Medieval Realms thy server,

  1. Thou shalt not advertise other servers.
    Explanation:
Of course we don't forbid playing on other servers, we don't have the rights to do that. Just don't advertise them, avertising other minecraft servers is always a crime. Other advertisements, may it be products or channels, may be offenses only.
If you want to advertise anything ask the owner beforehand for permission. You may advertise user shops on this server.

  2. Thou shalt respect eachother.
    Explanation:
The whole rule set boils down to "don't be a jerk".
Bantering might be cool for you, but insults are always considered at least offenses and some staff member might not recognize it as banter (there could be the opposite case too, a staff member may think of a single insult as too minor to punish it if you don't speak up).
Though any insults against people because of their ethnical ("race"), cultural (mostly religion) heritage, sexual identification (gender), orientation (sexuality), or disabilities are strongly forbidden and therefore always crimes.

As we have underage players and seeing porn is forbidden in some countries, building and sharing stuff that's clearly of pornographic nature (german definition as the server is located there) is forbidden.

  3. Thou shalt not exploit.
    Explanation:
In short: Especially using hacks is considered a crime. Bug exploits may (!) be okay or crimes too, if you're unsure, ask a staff member beforehand. As a rule of thumb, if you make ingame or even actual real money with it, it's a crime.
More specific: If you find bugs in the server software, report them to the team (best channels are the discord server or the forum).
You may not use bugs/glitches to get any benefits over other players, if you are unsure if using a specific game bug is considered illegal, ask the staff. You may not use bugs/glitches to gain ingame money of mini-games like parkour or others.

  4. Thou shalt not abuse your benefits.
    Explanation:
In short: Like bug exploits, if you got any benefit from ingame-rank or staff you may only make ingame or real money with it if a staff member gives permission, the chances of it are about zero though.
More specific: You may use the benefits coming with in-game ranks or permissions you got from staff only for yourself, you definitely may not make in-game money (nor actual money) from other users with them. You can get rank kits via /kit once a day but these items are for your personal use only, giving these items away (even for free) will result in you losing the permission to get them, and you may use them in PVP only if both players have the rank to get the items.
Sometimes staff may put you in creative mode in survival or other gamemodes to do something, if so: duping items like keys, rank books, etc. via creative mode is a crime as is using creative to get items you'll then sell.

  5. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy co-player.
    Explanation:
If you report some misbehavior, please add a screenshot, ingame coordinates or anything staff can take a look at, we won't punish someone without any proof.

  6. Thou shalt not litter.
    Explanation:
In short: Massive amounts of items on the ground produce lag for everyone. Therefore intentionally throwing great amounts of items on the ground for them to despawn is forbidden.
Don't spam the chat, it can get you muted for a short time, even becoming an offense if done repeatingly in an annoying way.
More specific: If you build automatic farms, build a way of disposing overflow or an automatic shutdown when the storage is full, farms that don't comply and cause lag at some point will be completely dismantled and if possible only the player responsible punished, sometimes everyone is.
Mob farms in survival for example caused lag and now the mobcaps and spawn rates are significantly reduced and the build limit in the nether lowered to the bedrock ceiling.

  7. Thou shalt use english.
    Explanation:
We have players and staff members from all over the world. Staff needs to be able to see if something goes against rule 2.
Other than that a lengthy conversation in global or gamemode wide chat, in a language only a few understand, is irritating for everyone else.
Not being fluent is no problem, nobody expects you to be.

  8. Thou shalt not bypass server mechanics

          Explanation:
The server has some mechanics that may kick you or do anything else with you. You are not allowed to bypass
such things with for example afk machines or special client modifications

    9.Thou shalt inform yourself.
         Explanation:
Ignorance of the rules is no excuse!
In other words; If you don't bother to read the rules, you accept that you will still be punished for breaking them. The rules may change without consent but major changes will be announced.

Survival Rules:

I am Survival thy gamemode,

  1. Thou shalt not murder.
    Explanation:
PVP without consent is a crime. Killing other people's nametagged mobs is an offense at least.
Your punishment will increase if you trap others, for example asking them to tp to you, to kill them or use special items as said in the general rules under "Thou shalt not abuse your benefits".
If you build traps in your base add a clearly recognizable warning, that the player is trespassing beyond that point or that there lies danger ahead, in a place they have to see before the traps trigger. You need to prove that the warnings were given, you could post a screenshot of them on the forum for example, when you activate the traps.

  2. Thou shalt not grief.
    Explanation:
Destroying and claiming stuff others have built can be considered a crime, unless it's abandoned or you have permission.
If you don't know if something is abandoned look around if there is any claim near it and ask that player about it.
Especially destroying spawners others have built a farm out of will be punished, as it won't be possible to replace them.

  3. Thou shalt not steal.
    Explanation:
If you take stuff that belongs to others and can't be replaced in a minecraft day, it is at least an offense.
You may harvest unclaimed crops of other players though, as long as you replant them.
Skyblock Rules:

I am Skyblock thy gamemode,

  1. Thou shalt not murder.
    Explanation:
PVP without consent is a crime. Killing other people's nametagged mobs is an offense at least.

You may harvest unclaimed crops of other players though, as long as you replant them.
Empires Rules:

I am Empires thy gamemode,
  1. Thou shalt compete.
    Explanation:
Empires is a competition gamemode on a rather small map.
It's of no use if there are people playing and using resources in it that don't take part in the competion.
Not complying leads to being disqualified and banned from Empires for the season.

  2. Thou shalt comply with the season specific rules.
    Explanation:
For each season there will be specific rules for the competition depending on the goal.
Creative Rules:

I am Creative thy gamemode,
  1. Thou shalt give credit where credit is due.
    Explanation:
If you build something that's more than only inspired by others, place a sign and give credit to the creator.
Especially if you build something as an application to become builder, not giving credit is an offense.

  2. Thou shalt restrain your use of entities.
    Explanation:
Intentionally flooding the gamemode with mobs is considered a crime.
Excessive builds with hundreds of moving or movable entities are not allowed and are a crime if found to be intentionally creating lag.

  3. Thou shalt not build pornographic things.
    Explanation:
As we have underage players and seeing porn is forbidden in some countries, building stuff that's clearly of pornographic nature (german definition as the server is located there) is forbidden.
